Q&A

Q. What is the lowest amount I can save?

A. £10 per month (+ £5 one off joining fee)

Q. How long do I have to wait until I can apply for a loan?

A. After joining us we require 3 consecutive monthly payments then you can apply for a loan.

Q. I only want a small loan to get me through the holidays, please can you help?

A. We have lots of members that require a small loan. To try and aid our members we have come up with a Quick Loan from £100-£1500 This is only available for members who have saved 3 consecutive months and do not have an outstanding loan currently. A Guarantor is not required

Q. If I stop working for the council can I continue saving with Forest Savers?

A. Yes and your payments will be made via Standing Order

Q. What is the advantage of saving with Forest Savers rather than a Bank or Building Society?

A. We offer all members

  1. low interest loans
  2. Run by the members for the members
  3. You speak to human instead of computers

Q. How will you get my monthly contributions each month if not from my wages?

A. We will ask you to complete a Standing Order form with your bank details.

Q. Why do I need a Guarantor to apply for a loan?

A. For the Quick loan of up to £1500 you would not require a Guarantor, but for loans over £1500 or top-up loans we require a Guarantor for security of payments

Q. Does my account gain any yearly interest?

A. Credit Unions do not give interest as such, but we have a performance based yearly

dividend paid to members share account. This decision and dividend percentage is decided

by the BOD from the guidance of our Auditors depending how well we have done through

that financial year.

Q. What happens to my account if I Die?

A. Your account is insured by CUNA Mutual for life insurance, so your Next of Kin will be required to provide us with some documents. Once CUNA received all the documents they will pay off any loan depending on current savings at death and your N.O.K. Will get your shares paid to them.

Please note

Any change in circumstances once in receipt of a loan, the member is advised to contact the office

asap we have a duty of care to all our members.
